The program includes: Visiting sustainable eco-villages, learning shepherd techniques and about ancient Hungarian animal breeds, adventures at the Mecsextrem Adventure Park, hiking in the Mecsek mountains, swimming in fresh water lakes, rivers and swimming pools, sightseeing to historic sites, visiting Pécs (the European Capital of Culture in 2010), famous spas of: Harkány, Szigetvár, Barcs, Sikonda, Lake Balaton and Budapest, meeting with the local Lions and Leo members. Applicants must be fit for sports, swimming skills are required.
Camp conditions: Please note that the activities will be mostly sports – hiking for 1-5 hours a day, swimming in spas, public swimming pools and lakes. As it can be very hot during the day at this period of the year, we spend as much time around open waters as possible. Hiking and other activities will be scheduled according to the weather. All further important details of the program will be given before the camp starts.
Catering: Cold breakfast, hot lunch, hot dinner will be served in the countryside as well as in Pécs and Budapest. There will be a possibility to cook for the camp, so think about your national specialities that you can prepare for the intercultural night (think of something simple). Make sure that you inform us about all your special needs regarding food or health related issues before the camp starts (e.g. if you are vegetarian, eat no pork, cannot drink milk, have allergies, etc.)
Personal documents: Passport and/or national identity card, International Students ID, if you have one (see: http://www.isic.org/home.aspx)
What to bring: For hiking, swimming: bring suitable clothes, a pair of good hiking shoes/boots, water bottle, sandals, swimsuits, towel, warm clothes for the nights (jumper should do), protective cream/spray against mosquitoes and ticks, and … your own sports equipment, games, etc. Think of your personal medicines, too. Some cash money for you extra needs and for your personal expenses (additional food, souvenirs etc.). Please bring some CD’s of your traditional music, a musical instrument if you happen to play one, traditional cooking recipes, typical food and drinks or anything that you think will represent your Country and can be useful for an intercultural night, and is not a burden to carry with you.
